Meet the team
35 years of commercially succesful leadership across a broad spectrum and demonstrable innovation and invention, Russell is passionate about giving something back to society making him uniquely qualified to Lead Prime GP.
Russell has great attention to detail, wide knowledge of corporate law and business operations, and envisages a fully responsive service provision from conception to completion. All these are crucial for Prime GP and the future vision of the NHS.
“I’ve been thinking...” is a phrase you’ll often here Russell say, whether he’s devising a lifestyle programme for diabetics, an eco-housing solution or sympathetically renovating a Grade-II listed manor house.
In his spare time, Russell is a keen helicopter pilot who’s competed in championships at national and world levels.
Dr Tim Coker
Tim commands 23 years’ GP experience, including running his own practice. He’s worked expertly and strategically to support clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) and the former primary care trusts (PCTs), helping improve NHS provision and patient experiences.
Tim’s business mind and clinical expertise enabled his practice to double in size and still meet patient expectations. July 2014’s GP Patient Survey Results for Practices in England show 91-99% of patients at Tim’s practice were satisfied with their current provision, compared to the national average of 77%.
Tim’s enthusiasm and motivation to improve NHS provision and patient experiences helped broaden his role and responsibilities. Within South Warwickshire, Tim has been:
- Leader on specific clinical programmes, such as improvements in diabetes
- Quality and productivity lead
- Caldicott Guardian
- Royal College of General Practice (RCGP) assessor for the GP Surgery Quality Team Development
- Founder, director and medical manager of the GP Out of Hours Co-Operative
Tim understands the need for high-quality provision, and the increasing demands and pressures facing general practice. He also has the expertise to transfer the commercial models needed to move towards a different NHS. His clinical know-how and experience puts Prime GP in a great place to ensure standards of clinical and information governance are adhered to, with models embedded into the day-to-day running of busy practices.
Dr Karen Clarke
Karen has run her own busy practice since 1998. She’s also recently overseen the construction of a new, up-to date-premises, reflecting the needs of her local community. This offers patients more-inclusive, multi-disciplinary provision – pharmacy, dentistry, hypnotherapy and osteopathy.
Karen understands the needs of local communities, and the complexities facing rural GP practices, including difficulties with cross-boundary working. She has established successful patient-participation groups which reflect the needs of the population, and which actively work with the practice on its day-to-day running and direction. Karen knows the importance of the patient voice in ensuring the “one size fits all” approach is challenged, and support is tailored accordingly.
In addition, Karen is an active member of the local clinical commissioning group (CCG), where she influences and develops projects as clinical lead. Supporting other practices comes naturally to Karen, who is also the lead GP for her local buddy group. Karen’s understanding of high-quality, integrated community provision, and expertise running a practice and leading on service re-design projects puts Prime GP in a great place to ensure we can move towards a sustainable and innovative NHS.
Amy comes with over 15 years experience in management, and working in partnership across health, local authorities and the voluntary sector to deliver health outcomes. Amy’s project-management and service-redesign experience has helped meet local, regional and national government targets, ensuring all key stakeholders are fully engaged, and influenced all aspects of the commissioning cycle.
Amy has a comprehensive understanding of change and project management. Utilising the NHS Change Model and LEAN methodologies, she’s enjoyed many successes in bringing efficiencies and streamlining. “What about the service user in all this? What do they think, feel and experience?” is always Amy’s priority. Driven by the “no decision about me, without me” ethos, Amy founded the successful Warwickshire’s Respect Yourself Campaign in 2007, in response to the government’s Teenage Pregnancy Strategy. Since then Amy has project-managed initiatives on behalf of the police, voluntary sector, health and local authorities, from conception to completion. Amy has delivered measurable outcomes for all involved, on time and on budget.
On behalf of various partners, Amy has secured further funding from EU sources, and regional and national initiatives. She’s enabled the development of workforce training and the sharing of good practice across Europe, and helped provide capital assets for new services and research initiatives.
